He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins. – Ephesians 1:7 NLT
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace. – Ephesians 1:7 ESV
The truth in this scripture hits hard and humbles to the greatest degree. Such grace and forgiveness I cannot fathom. The cost of God’s grace and forgiveness to us was the life of His Son. Jesus died a horrific death that He didn’t deserve, given by a Father only because of His great love for us … for me … for you. And this sacrifice was made knowing that I would have a sin problem. You might say that it was made because God knew I would have a sin problem. So in His great grace, God forgave my sin by giving His precious Son to suffer and die a gruesome death in my place. Any grace and forgiveness that I need to give others doesn’t come close to costing me what it cost God and His Son. Therefore, how can I not give grace to others? How can I not give forgiveness to others? How can I not freely give grace and forgiveness in thanksgiving for that great and unfathomable grace and forgiveness that is given to me every day?
