. . . Then he [God] sent someone to Egypt ahead of them – Joseph, who was sold as a slave. Until the time came to fulfill his dreams, the Lord tested Joseph’s character. – Psalm 105:17, 19 NLT (Parenthesis mine)
Jesus replied, ‘Now the time has come for the Son of Man to enter into his glory.’ – John 12:23 NLT
So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. – Galatians 6:9 NLT
But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law. – Galatians 4:4 NLT
And this is the plan: At the right time he will bring everything together under the authority of Christ – everything in heaven and on earth. – Ephesians 1:10 NLT
People often ask, “When is this trial/testing/hard season of life going to be over?” Difficult times in life can go on for years, as it was for Joseph, and we can grow weary and be tempted to lose faith and quit. In Job’s time of testing, his wife told him to curse God and die. But, God’s Word tells us that these times will end at just the right time. Our job is to stand firm in faith and wait on God’s timing. And if we will, we will see the glory of God.
In Chapter 9 titled “Hurry Up and Wait!” of my book Living In God’s Light, I write, “Hurry Up and Wait requires total submission to the timing and will of another. In the life of a Christian disciple, this submission is to God. Hurry Up and Wait trains us not to take matters into our own hands and to obey without having to know the whys of the circumstance. – Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait I say, on the Lord! (Psalm 27:14) – Waiting on God is a discipline that must be learned by those who are fighting the good fight and maturing in faith. It is as we wait on God that we learn His presence, His character, and His plan. It is in this submitted posture that we can hear God’s heart beat.”
When will this be over? In God’s perfect time. Have faith and rest in knowing that He loves you, He sees you, and is in control of all your circumstances. Draw near and hear His heart beat.
