Make thankfulness your sacrifice to God, and keep the vows you made to the Most High. Then call on me when you are in trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory. But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors me. If you keep to my path, I will reveal to you the salvation of God. Psalm 50:14-15, 23 NLT
In this scripture we see that the path of salvation is through the sacrifice of thankfulness. Why does God call thankfulness a sacrifice? One reason may be because we must sacrifice our pride to be thankful. In pride, we want to do things our way and take credit so that we receive the glory. In thankfulness, however, we credit God for the goodness and blessings that we have so that He receives the glory. We must remember that it is God who gives us what we need for our accomplishments and be thankful for His provision rather than choosing to be prideful in our own merit. Humility is the path of thankfulness and salvation of God.
